The first Q Series was launched in 1991 with three models that all utilised the new type 200_25 Uni-Q array. The coincident mounting of the midrange and treble drivers allows the signals from the two units to arrive at the listener at precisely the same time bringing readily audible benefits of transparency, stereo image stability and natural sound reproduction. This coincident mounting also unifies the directivity, or ‘Q’ of the two units (hence the name Uni-Q) allowing a more uniform off-axis performance and subsequently reduced sensitivity to differing room acoustics.

 

Q60 was a compact two-way system suitable for bookshelf or stand mounting and was capable of realistic sound levels with only moderate power requirements. Careful bass alignment allowed the Q60 to be tolerant of positioning and able to reproduce the life-like three-dimensional qualities of well-recorded music in almost any environment.

 

Q80 was a floor standing speaker of relatively compact dimensions designed for the listener who needs big speaker performance without big speaker dimensions. The two-way design utilised a passive radiator to extend and enhance the bass response and its high sensitivity and output capability allowed life-like dynamic performance.

 

For those wanting the additional headroom and freedom provided by a full three-way system, the Q90 was the speaker of choice. This reflex loaded loudspeaker was a no-compromise design with a bold, dynamic and truthful performance. It came supplied with adjustable, lockable feet and twin gold-plated terminals to allow bi-wiring or bi-amplification.
