The new Q Series for 1997 featured some key developments in driver and cabinet technology. The 165_19 format Uni-Q array included a low profile surround that was moulded onto the cone to provide not only an improved cone-surround mechanical termination and a subsequently smoother mid-band response, but also a more continuous waveguide for the high frequency tweeter radiation. The result was a step-up in smoothness and tonal neutrality. The classic ‘racetrack’ form of the legendary B139 bass driver was reintroduced in the new B169 (6”x 9”). With a lower moving mass than the original, it allowed high sensitivity and improved dynamics in the Q65, Q65SE and Q75.

 

The cabinets featured a curved front baffle and all models included twin input terminals for bi-wiring or bi-amping. Specially moulded trim rings and interlocking ports, together with the semi-transparent cone of the Uni-Q array created a range of speakers with high acoustic performance matched with attractive contemporary styling.

 

Building on the success of the Q10, the new two-way Q15 bookshelf/stand-mount offered top performance in a compact package, and at an attractive price point.

 

All the performance of the Q15 in an elegant floor standing enclosure, Q35 was a popular system for those with small to medium sized listening rooms and who valued elegant simplicity with serious acoustic performance.

 

With the addition of and extra driver in a 2½-way format the Q55 offered increased bass extension, sensitivity and dynamics in an elegant slim package. Its combination of performance and form factor made it well suited to a wide variety of domestic listening rooms.

 

With the new B169 racetrack bass driver in combination with the Uni-Q midrange/tweeter section, this three-way loudspeaker provided discerning listeners with a well-judged combination of subtlety and effortless high-level performance. An SE version of the Q65 was introduced in 1999 that further fine-tuned the acoustic performance.

 

For those wanting the benefits of Uni-Q’s exceptional mid-band performance, coupled with the bass output and dynamic capability required for the most demanding of source material, the new Q75 was the natural choice. Twin B169 bass drivers in an enclosure of generous internal volume allowed excellent performance for those with medium to large listening rooms.

 

Developed from the acclaimed Model 90, the new Q95c centre channel loudspeaker offered clear, natural and detailed reproduction of dialogue and centre channel effects in home theatre systems.

 

Developed from the highly regarded TDM34DS, the new 65DS dipole surround offered perfect timbre matching with the Q Series loudspeakers while enveloping the listener with a spacious surround sound experience.
