A Simple Guide to Digital Music File Formats
Digital music is not only here to stay, it’s the king of the playback hill. With that in mind, we thought we’d offer a little guide to what all of those file extensions and terms actually mean.

A Basic Explanation of How Music Is Converted to Digital
There is no doubt that the digital revolution has enriched our musical experiences, but you don't have to earn an advance computer science degree to know how it all works.

Why Our Relationship to Music Matters
Music listened to on as a good a system as you can afford is a quality experience that has meaning. Meaning that will stay with you your entire life. Convenience has always been the biggest enemy of experience, and that holds true more than ever for our music.

Tom's Diner and the Birth of the mp3
Sometime between 1989 and 1990, at the AT&T labs in Murray Hill, NJ, a scientist heard a song. That scientist, Karlheinz Brandenburg, was just your average, every day audio engineering genius who also happened to be working on the codec for a new digital music format.

The Storage Revolution - Disk Drives and Music
The Miniaturization Revolution has done more to change the way we purchase, store and listen to music than any other invention since Thomas Edison's wax cylinder, yet most of us are hardly aware of it.

How the CD Killed the Album
The format is dead, but what exactly killed the album? It might just be that streaming and dowloading didn't kill the album. It might have been something else.
